ENTREPRENEUR • FATHER • SWEDE
Mr. Mdalla believes that his main strengths are his creativity, analytical skills, and his strong drive to accomplish the goals set. He also shared how he perceives his weaknesses to be the lack of fulfillment of his own expectation in the level of structure and sociability.
Samir's view on the world is that it's full of opportunities, but that this is a double-sided blade. In fact, this can create an issue for many people when it comes to focusing on a specific thread of ideas. The lack of focus cause entrepreneurs to attempt to accomplish too many different goals, while not being able to achieve any of them at the same time.
That is the logic behind his new responsibility of “saying no” to other opportunities to focus better and excel at the one he is already working on at the moment. When it comes to threats that could arise in the industry. He adopts a great optimistic ideology that can be expressed in the concept that each threat can become an opportunity if analyzed and treated in the correct way. Also, he believes that the danger of the threat is always present from every side of the environment that surrounds the business and that the capability of adapting the business is key to survival.
Samir Mdalla recognizes how important his family was to his business passion and how much he learned, also on a personal level, from their education.
His parents were entrepreneurs in the restaurant industry and owned a total of three restaurants over time. Entrepreneurship runs into the Mdalla family even though Samir decided at a young age that he would operate in a different type of trade.
His business success is based on his ability to start at a young age following an unfortunate accident that completely changed his destiny.
On a September day of 2004, on the day before his fifteenth birthday, he had a serious accident while on his way to school. Consequently to this event, he had to be bed-bound and undergo surgeries for two years. Due to the heavy medication, still on this day, he has little memory of this time and he believes school failed to assist in this situation.
While this was definitely a grim condition, it gave him the opportunity in the need to reinvent himself and that is how he became an entrepreneur at the young age of eighteen.
When explaining the nature of his first business, an event company, and how he decided during this experience to be always proactive in accepting any kind of task. Through these years, he managed to create a good network of connections and learn many skills that he will then use across his life until today. His resilience and strength never to give up are the main characteristics that were critical to his success.
Even though he believes that he still did not reach his goal when it comes to success, he understands the importance of perceiving success on a daily basis. In fact, he goes on explaining how success means to be happy with his opportunity of being an entrepreneur and create his own luck. Helping people, perceiving meaning and being passionate about what you decide to spend your life doing is key to happiness for Mr. Mdalla.
While he thinks his professional greatest achievement is yet to be accomplished, he has reached a life-changing goal in his personal life, which is that he has become a father.
Mr. Mdalla believes that failure is constant when setting high goals in business, but that is also a very valuable learning tool. He learned a lot from each of his failures and that is why it is important to fail and learn as much as possible to become a better businessperson and human being. In fact, his motivation and excitement in life are to visualize the person he would like to become in the future and strive every day to become that enlightened version of himself. This process starts in personal growth as he says: “I think everything comes from personal growth first, then everything expands”.
Learn you need to be the hardest worker in the room
Mr. Mdalla knows that effort is the key to success. The true meaning of entrepreneurship is to put yourself as a model for the rest of the staff. An employer cannot expect the team to work hard unless he is the one proving to be the one who puts the most effort.
You need to be selling things, sell it first!
One of the key differentiators between Scandinavian Business Solutions and other incorporation businesses stands in the nature of being run by salespeople. Mr. Mdalla is by nature a salesperson and, through this aspect, he designed the company, the processes, and services provided. Being able to sell for a company is the main tool to prove that the business model is working and successful.
Do not get money in (from external sources), learn to prioritize instead
Nowadays there are many ways to reach possible investors or crowdfunding, which can definitely help a company increase his capital to launch big. Unfortunately doing this creates an issue due to the need to exchange a percentage of ownership for capital, which mostly at the beginning of entrepreneurial activity can be of a high amount. In the long run, this can create many issues when it comes to decision making and also create the risk of loss of a majority of shares for the entrepreneur. What Mr. Mdalla suggests instead is to learn how to prioritize expenses and cut costs as much as possible when needed.
Let the business growth take time: enjoy the process and learn from it
This is a great lesson that shows the mindset of this entrepreneur in relation to his journey. While gaining profit and achieving success is the ultimate goal of a for-profit business, the goal of the entrepreneur should be much wider than this. A businessperson is first and foremost a human being. This means that we are temporary being with a finite and unknown time to achieve whatever goal we set. The real meaning is the learning and continuous improvement that the entrepreneurial challenge poses upon the Director and the reward of all the process of decision and adaptation needed for the organization to survive. The time that takes to grow the business is the real accomplishment that can be felt every day.
